Inter-Community Mentoring
PeaceMaker’s pioneering Inter-Community Mentoring Projects bring together marginalised young people from one community with young adults (mentors) from a different community. Supported by PeaceMaker’s experience and skills, young people find themselves in the most enlightening of situations, being supported by mentors from a different community. For many, this is the first time in their lives that they are developing positive relationships with people from different backgrounds.
Of course, the usual mentoring takes place, but here prejudices are also overcome, as both the mentors and ‘mentees’ find themselves sharing similar life experiences, challenges, and developing common strategies for successfully taking up their roles in a modern multicultural Britain.
